Formed in 2006, the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium (VPLC) encourages the study and enjoyment of books and promotes cooperation among all types of libraries on the Peninsula. 

By presenting free and open-to-the-public events by best-selling and award-winning authors, the VPLC offers cultural experiences that many community residents otherwise would not have access to and encourages reading and community discussions about books.
